Gavin Wayte
Gavin Wayte is a conductor and composer. A specialist in contemporary repertoire, his recent performances include the UK premiere of song cycles by Manchester polymath Anthony Burgess.
He studied conducting with Garry Walker at the University of Manchester, and in 2007 attended the Centre Acanthes conducting academy under Peter Eotvos and Zsolt Nagy.
As a composer, he focuses on music for the opera and theatre stage, and dance. In 2011-12 he was a member of the ROH2 Vox scheme at Covent Garden where his opera scene The Neighbour was premiered in the Exposure series. In summer 2012, Revolve, a sited work for two dancers and harpist received its first performance in the Urban Moves international outdoor festival.
